Aja Barrett joined the Columbia University Athletics Business & Finance staff as an Administrative Assistant in February 2017 after spending two years as a Graduate Assistant of Equipment Operations and Business Office Intern at Adelphi University.
Her many duties at Columbia include assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Business & Finance Office as well as Human Resources.
During her time at Adelphi, Barrett was responsible for ordering, laundering and inventorying all athletic equipment and apparel for 23 varsity NCAA Division II Sports, Clubs and Support Groups. She also served as the Interim Equipment Manager during the Summer of 2015. Barrett assisted with budget management, expense reports, processing purchase orders and coordinating travel for the Athletic Department, among other things.
After graduating from St. John's University with a bachelor’s degree in Sports Management and a minor in Business in 2007 and serving as a team manager for the Men's Basketball Program, Barrett went on to teach Special Education in the NYC Department of Education for nearly seven years. Barrett completed her master’s degree in Sports Management at Adelphi University in 2016.
Barrett is a Bronx, N.Y. native.
