NEW YORK – Jerry Recco returns for a second year on play-by-play and Jake Novak ’92CC joins him as the color commentator to make up the broadcast team for Columbia Football in 2007.
Recco and Novak can be heard on a free live audiocast of the Lions' games each Saturday on gocolumbialions.com. Details of professional radio broadcasts will be announced in the coming month.
Recco became the voice of the Lions in 2006, and provided play-by-play for Columbia Football and Men's Basketball contests this past year. He is a "20/20 sports anchor" on all-sports radio station WFAN in New York and has been with the station since 1997.
"It is my pleasure to be returning to the radio booth for year two," Recco says. "After watching the team have a very successful first season under Norries Wilson, I am very anxious for the 2007 campaign."
Novak, who became senior producer at FOX Business Network earlier this month, is a longtime fan of Columbia Football, and maintains a weblog titled "Roar Lions Roar", dedicated to reporting on the team. He was a producer at CNN for the last seven years and has also worked locally for New York 1.
"I am overjoyed to work for my Alma Mater," Novak says, "and, along with Jerry Recco, act as a voice for my fellow Lions football fans who follow the school and this team."
Recco notes: "I am very much looking forward to working with Jake. He will bring unbelievable knowledge to each one of our broadcasts."
The broadcast tandem will make its debut on Saturday, September 15 when the Lions travel to Fordham to defend the Liberty Cup. Kickoff is 6 p.m.
