Four Former Lions to Compete at US Olympic Trials for Track and Field

NEW YORK, N.Y. - Four former Cross Country and Track and Field standouts are still in the hunt for a chance to compete in the 2008 Olympic Games held in Beijing. Delilah DiCrescenzo ‘05CC, Erison Hurtault ‘07CC, Steve Sundell ‘04CC, Tom Kloos ‘99CC will compete at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials held at Hayward Field at the University of Oregon, June 27-July 6.

DiCrescenzo currently ranks third in the US in the steeplechase as of June 5, according to DiCrescenzo qualified for the Olympic trials with a time of 9:41.68, the fifth fastest time on the declaration list. She will be competing in the steeplechase semi-finals on Monday, June 30.

Hurtault is ranked 17th on the declaration list for the men’s 400 meter with a time of 45.40. He will be competing in the 400m trials on Sunday, June 29.

After finishing 15th in the marathon qualifier for the Olympics, Sundell will also be competing in the 10K trials on July 4. He is currently ranked 22nd on the declaration list.

Finally, Kloos, who is presently ranked 26th on the declaration list, hopes to compete in the finals for men’s steeplechase which is set for July 3.
