NEW YORK - Three Columbia archers earned a spot on the
All-East team for the 2010 season.
Sarah Chai and Anna Harrington each earned the honor for the second
consecutive year, while Sara Goshorn earned a spot for the third time in her
career.
The All-East team is decided by an archer's score in three
major tournaments: US Indoor National East Regional, Adam
Wheatcroft Invitational, and the Eastern Regional Intercollegiate
Archery Championships (ERIAC).
Making the honor even more impressive is the fact that the
Columbia shooters only competed in two of the three events, yet still ranked
among the best in the region.
Columbia competed at the U.S. Indoor National East Regional March 13-14
and the ERIAC on April 24-25, but was unable to compete at the Adam Wheatcroft
Invitational.
This season Chai ranked third in the East after shooting a
545 at the Indoor East Regional and a 1098 at the ERIAC this past weekend for a
combined total of 1643. Last year as a first-year, Chai finished fifth in the
region to earn All-East honors.
Just behind Chai was Goshorn who ranked fourth overall. The senior sharp-shooter fired a 558 at the Indoor East
Regional and a 1064 at the ERIAC for a total of 1622. Goshorn finished third in the region last season, and fourth in 2008
as a sophomore.
The Lions' final representative on the recurve All-East team
was Harrington. The sophomore
combined for a total of 1602 after
shooting 524 and 1078 at the two qualifying tournaments. Last season Harrington finished second
in the region as a first-year.
Columbia will next compete at the United States
Intercollegiate Archery Championships (USIAC) on May 13-16 in Long Beach,
Calif.
