Men's Basketball Coaching Staff
Kevin Hovde
Assistant Coach

Kevin Hovde was promoted to assistant coach prior to the 2012-13 season after joining the Columbia men's basketball staff in 2011 as the program’s director of basketball operations. Hovde acts as the team’s offensive coordinator and has been key in opponent scouting and player development.

A native of Philadelphia, Hovde came to Columbia after playing collegiately at the University of Richmond under head coach Chris Mooney. Former Columbia associate head coach Carlin Hartman also was an assistant coach at Richmond during Hovde's early years as a Spider. Arriving as a walk-on, Hovde earned a scholarship after his first year and played in 99 games during his career and made 10 starts.

During his time at Richmond, the Spiders reached the NCAA Tournament's Sweet 16 in 2011 and reached the NCAA Tournament in 2010. That year, Richmond lost in the first round to St. Mary's, where Columbia head coach Kyle Smith was on the staff.
