Columbia Hits the Road to Take on No. 22 Albany Sunday
NEW YORK – Columbia field hockey will hit the road for the first time in three weeks to take on No. 22 Albany on Sunday. It will be the Lions’ (7-3) second crack at a ranked foe this season.
Columbia is coming off a 3-2 victory over Rider on Wednesday night. The Lions surrendered an early goal, but scored three unanswered to earn their seventh win in their last eight contests.
The Great Danes (5-6) are coming off a stretch of playing five straight ranked opponents before their matchup at New Hampshire on Friday. As a result, they are struggling to score, averaging just 1.91 goals per contest. Corrine McConville has lit the lamp six times, while Jessica Longstreth leads the squad with eight assists and 14 points.
Columbia and Albany have not faced each other since the Lions claimed a 1-0 overtime victory in 2005. This will be the fifth all-time meeting between the teams, who have split the previous four times they have played.
Game time is set for 1:00 p.m.
