NEW YORK - The No. 45 Columbia men's tennis team will host its second home match of the season Friday, Feb. 1, as cross-town foe Fordham makes the short trip to the Dick Savitt Tennis Center. First serve between the Lions and Rams is slated for 2 p.m.

Columbia is coming off a 1-1 showing at the ITA Kick-Off Weekend tournament in Oxford, Miss. Following a tough loss to No. 12 Ole Miss, the Lions bounced back with an upset victory over then No. 36 Louisville. The win over the Cardinals was the first in Bid Goswami's, The Columbia Tennis Alumni and Friends Head Coach of Men's Tennis, 31-year career at Columbia that the Lions won a dual match against a top-40 ranked opponent in a national tournament.

Against Louisville, Winston Lin, Ashok Narayana and Bert Vancura each won their singles match in straight sets. The Lions also took the doubles point, as No. 17 Narayana and Max Schnur won the top match, while Vancura and Eric Rubin took the No. 3 match. Rubin left Mississippi with three victories, winning both his matches the previous day against Ole Miss.

Fordham enters Friday's match with a 4-2 overall record, but is winless in 2013. The Rams began the New Year against No. 58 BYU, falling to the Cougars, 6-1, and most recently went on the road and lost a close match to Fairfield, 4-3.

Srikar Alla won the No. 1 singles match, 6-3, 6-1, over Fairfield's Ian Tesmond, while his doubles partner, Max Peara, won the No. 4 match in three sets.
