PHILADELPHIA – Columbia field hockey will be out in full-force at the inaugural Harrow Cup from June 8-9 at Temple University’s Geasy Field. Head coach Marybeth Freeman, assistant coach Caroline Nichols, along with alumnae Megan Davidson ‘09CC, Maggie O’Connor ‘12CC and Desiree Scherf ‘12CC will all be participants in the postgraduate event.

Freeman and Nichols were each selected in the first round by their selective teams in a draft held on March 15.

Nichols will suit up for the Tembos where she will be joined by fellow back Scherf. Freeman was the top selection of the Ninjas, and will look to anchor the team’s defense in goal. O’Connor will be on the Titans, while Davidson joins the Mambas.

The idea of the Harrow Cup was born during the 2012 National Field Hockey Festival in West Palm Beach, Fla. Inspired by the passion, excitement, and enthusiasm of the Harrow Field Hockey staff at their annual opportunity to play, Mark Hayden, the leader of Harrow Sports, decided that more needed to be done for this underserved market segment. The Harrow Cup aims to serve the post-collegiate market by providing a competitive and exciting opportunity to play.
