Menís Golf Takes Seventh at Yale Spring Opener
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Columbia men’s golf team participated in a busy day of golf on The Course at Yale, finishing in seventh at the Yale Spring Opener following 36 holes of action.
The Lions finished the tournament with a two-round team score of 603, just three strokes behind sixth-place Penn and 20 strokes back of tournament winner, Villanova.
Sophomore Brandon Jowers had a career-best day, finishing tied for fourth on the individual leaderboard. Jowers, whose previous highest finish was 34th, posted rounds of 73 and 71 (tying his best low round) to pace the Lions.
First-year Harrison Shih made it two Lions in the top 10, finishing in a tie for seventh after shooting a first-round 74 and second-round 72. Junior Andrew Kim completed the day tied for 30th, shooting a combined score of 146 (74-72). Senior Ford Fischer claimed Columbia’s fourth top-50 finish, posting a 159 (83-76) to stand tied for 49th.
Columbia next travels to Princeton, N.J. for the Princeton Invitational at the Springdale Golf Club from April 13-14.
