NEW YORK – The Columbia men’s golf team will travel to Princeton this weekend to compete in the 27th annual Princeton Invitational held at Springdale Golf Club on April 13 and 14. Saturday action will consist of a 36-hole event set to begin at 7:45 a.m., while 18 holes will be played Sunday with tee times slated for 8:00 a.m.

Live scoring will be available via Golfstat.com and through VPar.com.

The field is comprised of 14 teams, including each member of the Ancient Eight. Georgetown, Navy, Rider, Saint Joseph's, Seton Hall and Temple round out the additional participants set to compete on the par-71 course measuring 6,930 yards.

As the Ivy League Championships loom in the coming weeks, the Lions will look to make a stand against their conference foes this weekend.

Last season, Columbia posted an outstanding even-par 284 in the final round of the Princeton Invitational to notch an impressive third-place finish. The Lions finished the 54-hole event with a 288-288-284—860 (+8), just two strokes back of first-place Yale (6-over 858). Columbia and second-place finisher Georgetown each shot even-par 284 in the final round, only to be bested by Yale’s 1-under 283.

The Lions are most recently coming off a seventh-place finish in 36 holes of action at the Yale Spring Opener in New Haven last weekend.

The Lions finished the tournament with a two-round team score of 603, just three strokes behind sixth-place Penn and 20 strokes back of tournament winner, Villanova.

Sophomore Brandon Jowers had a career-best day, finishing tied for fourth on the individual leaderboard. Jowers, whose previous highest finish was 34th, posted rounds of 73 and 71 (tying his best low round) to pace the Lions.

First-year Harrison Shih was the second Lion to make his way into the top 10, turning in a solid performance to finish tied for seventh after shooting a first-round 74 and second-round 72. Junior Andrew Kim completed the day in a tie for 30th, shooting a combined score of 146 (74-72). Senior Ford Fischer claimed Columbia’s fourth top-50 finish of the day, posting a 159 (83-76) to stand tied for 49th.

In addition to the team competing at the Princeton Invitational, Senior Stephen LaRouere will be competing at the Army Last Chance Invitational this Sunday. LaRouere is slated to tee off at 8:08 a.m. in the 36-hole event.
