Ruesterholz Earns First Ivy League Rookie of the Week Honors
PRINCETON, N.J. – Columbia field hockey first-year Katie Ruesterholz was named the first Ivy League Rookie of the Week of the season after helping the Lions post a 2-0 record last weekend.
Ruesterholz needed just three shots to score three goals in the two games. The Basking Ridge, N.J. native found the back of the net twice in the Lions’ 5-0 win over Longwood and then tallied Columbia’s first goal in its eventual 2-1 win over James Madison.
Additionally, sophomore goalkeeper Kimberly Pianucci earned a spot on the Weekly Honor Roll. Pianucci stopped 19-of-20 shots in two games, earning a split of a shutout against Longwood on Sep. 8 and another victory over James Madison. Her .952 save percentage currently ranks her first in the entire nation.
Dartmouth’s Ali Savage earned conference Player of the Week honors.
