Chelsea Ryan Earns Co-Ivy League Player of the Week Honors

PRINCETON, N.J. - Senior Chelsea Ryan was named co-Ivy League Player of the Week after helping the Columbia women’s soccer team to back-to-back shutout victories last weekend.
Ryan scored her first career hat trick on Friday, Sep. 20 to lift the Lions to a 3-0 win over Albany at Bob Ford Stadium. The Avon, Conn., native knocked in two headers and a penalty kick to cap the Lions’ four game road swing with a win. The senior defender continued her strong play at home on Sunday, Sep. 22 and tallied an assist in Columbia’s 2-0 win over Fairleigh Dickinson.
Additionally, senior defender Shannon FitzPatrick earned a spot on the Weekly Honor Roll. Fitzpatrick has led the Columbia defense to 180 minutes of shutout play. The Lions have held its opponents scoreless in the first half of play for five consecutive games and Sunday’s win marked its third shutout victory of the season.
Columbia will be back in action on Friday, Sep. 27 at 7 p.m. as they begin Ivy League play at Cornell.
