NEW YORK - Columbia head softball coach Kayla Noonan has unveiled the 2014 spring schedule this past week. The Lions' 51-game slate will begin on Friday, Feb. 21 with a doubleheader at the Houston Classic.

Columbia will square off against North Dakota State and the host Cougars to kick-off the season-opening tournament that also features Nicholls State for a total of five contests that will be played from February 21-23.

The next weekend (Feb. 28-Mar. 2) will be spent at the Hampton Invitational in Virginia, where the Lions will take on Hartford, Fairleigh Dickinson, St. Joseph's and Hampton. After a week off, the Lions will complete tournament play close to home at the Hofstra Invitational from March 14-16 for five more games.

The first of 10 home dates for the Lions will be on Wednesday, March 19 when they welcome Lafayette to the Baker Athletics Complex.

Columbia's non-conference schedule features home double-dips with Iona, Rider, Manhattan and Stony Brook and visits to Wagner and Saint Peter's.

Ivy League play commences on Friday, March 28 against Brown at the Columbia Softball Stadium, followed by another pair of games against Yale on March 29. Trips to Dartmouth and Harvard follow before the Divisional four-game series begin.

Princeton comes to town from April 12-13 before the Lions trek to Cornell on April 19-20. Columbia closes the season with a home-and-home set with defending Ivy League Champion Penn which will start in Philadelphia on April 25 and wrap up the following day in Inwood.

Columbia is coming off a 22-win season in 2013, which was the highest single-season win total for the program since 2007. The Lions return their entire starting lineup from last season, including six All-Ivy League honorees.
