Baseball Coach Brett Boretti Invited to Speak at 2014 ABCA Convention
NEW YORK – The continued success of Columbia baseball under head coach Brett Boretti has not gone unnoticed by his colleagues, as Boretti was one of just 30 baseball coaches in the nation to be selected to speak at the 2014 ABCA Convention held in Dallas, Texas from Jan. 2-5.
The ABCA convention, held annually at different locations throughout the country, is a four-day, non-stop baseball event that approximately 4,000 coaches attend each year. Coaches in attendance participate in committee discussions, clinic presentations, an honors luncheon and the Hall of Fame/Coach of the Year Banquet.
Boretti’s clinic presentation focused on the player behind the player - “Building a Better Catcher – 20 Minutes A Day.” Boretti’s extensive knowledge of catching dates back to collegiate playing days at Davidson, where he was an All-Southern Conference first team selection as a junior and senior. Under his tutelage, current Lions catcher Mike Fischer was a second team All-Ivy League selection in 2013 and a top-40 prospect of the PGCBL.
“It was a great privilege and an honor to speak at the ABCA convention,” said Boretti.
Boretti and the Lions are gearing up for the 2014 season, which will begin on Feb. 28 with a trip to Tampa, Fla. to take on South Florida.
