Men's Swimming & Diving Holds Off Brown, 167-132
PROVIDENCE,, R.I. – On Saturday, Jan. 25, the Columbia men’s swimming and diving captured its first road win of the season at Brown as they held off the Bears 167-132. With the victory, the Lions move to 3-2 in the Ivy League and 5-2 overall.
Micah Rembrandt put on a show taking both diving events to led the Lions on the boards. Rembrandt tallied 296.70 points in the 3-meter dive and posted a wining score in the 1-meter dive with 311.70 points.
Columbia’s depth served the Lions well on Saturday with seven swimmers grabbing wins. Harry Stephenson captured the 1650 free with a time of 15:45.75 and Terry Li followed with a victory in the 200 free at 1:41.01.
In the 50 Free, David Jakl clocked in slightly ahead of Philipp Gaissert for the win at 20.52. Gaissert posted a runner-up time of 20.80. Kevin Quinn led a 1-2-3 sweep in the 200 back with a first-place time of 1:50.09. Thomas Norman followed in second-place at 1:51.26 and Benjamin Xu took third place at 1:53.04.
The Lions have kept the momentum going through the second half of the season with three straight wins. Up next, Columbia will travel to Annapolis, Md. to face Navy on Friday, Jan. 31 at 2 p.m.
