New York- The No. 51 Columbia women’s tennis team took down No. 69 Princeton, 4-1, in the second day of the ECAC Championships on Saturday, Feb. 8 at the Dick Savitt Tennis Center.

The Lions jumped out to a early 1-0 lead after taking the doubles point. No. 24 Bianca Sanon and Kanika Vaidya brought home the first match in a hard fought 6-4 win over Princeton’s Lindsay Graff and Dorothy Tang. No. 20 Tina Jiang and Crystal Leung quickly followed their teammates, defeating Amanda Muliawan and Alanna Wolff, 6-4, just minutes after.

Sanon was the first to take a singles point when she swept Lindsay Graff, 6-0, 6-1 in the No. 2 match. Takenaga finished her No. 5 match against Katie Goepel in the same fashion. Princeton managed to get on the board when Tang took down Alecsiu in a tiebreaker, 10-6, after splitting sets.  The Lions clinched the final singles point when Vaidya took down Graff in a hard fought match, 7-5, 6-1, in the top match.

The Lions will play the winner of the Yale vs. Brown match tomorrow Sunday, Feb. 9 in the Championship match at 1 p.m. in the Dick Savitt Tennis Center.
