Cold Weather Changes Softball's Schedule at Hampton Invitational
NEW YORK – The Columbia softball team treks to Virginia this weekend for an abbreviated three-game set a the Hampton Invitational. This weekend's schedule was changed from a three-day event to two days due to anticipated inclement weather in the area.

The Lions are in search of their first win after dropping five games at the Houston Hilton Plaza Invitational last weekend.
LIONS DIG THE LONGBALL
Columbia belted five home runs from five different players last weekend in Texas. Emily Snodgrass, Macy Shrum and Liz Caggiano, all proven power hitters for the Lions, went deep and first-years Alyssa Rodia and Shelby Unger each recorded their first collegiate big flies.
NEW A-ROD IN TOWN
Alex Rodriguez may not be playing for the Yankees this year, but there’s a new A-Rod in NYC, first-year first baseman Alyssa Rodia. Rodia went 4-for-12 with a home run, double, two RBI and two runs scored.
The Hawks open up their season this weekend after going 21-34 and 10-8 in the America East in 2013. Hartford returns pitcher Zuzana Kudernatschova and first baseman Chelsey Mooney, who both earned all-conference second team honors. Kudernatschova won 14 games to go with a 2.50 ERA and 147 strikeouts in 190.1 innings. Mooney hit .242 with 10 RBI in 95 plate appearances.
SCOUTING FAIRLEIGH DICKINSON
The Knights opened their season with a 1-2 showing at the Spartan Clash in Norfolk, Va. FDU opened the tournament with a 4-0 triumph over La Salle before dropping close decisions to Delaware State and Yale. Angelique Nieves has driven in five of her club’s seven runs this season and Bryana Dorado leads the Knights, hitting .429. Megan Reiner bolsters the pitching staff and is 1-0 with 12 K’s and has not allowed a run in 9.1 innings.
The Pirates check in at 3-6 on the young season having played in two tournaments in Hawaii and Greensboro, N.C. Hampton was 2-2 last weekend, topping Army and George Washington while losing to Minnesota and UNC Greensboro. Margaret Wilkins has a team-best .379 batting average and six RBI. Jailynn Jackson has done the bulk of the work in the circle, boasting a 3-3 record with a 2.67 ERA and 23 strikeouts in 39.1 innings.
