No. 17 Men's Tennis Rips Past Brown, 4-1

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – A strong day on the courts for the No. 17 Columbia men’s tennis team culminated with a 4-1 victory at Brown Saturday afternoon.

The doubles point came from the top two doubles matches for the Lions. Ashok Narayana and Max Schnur, sporting a top-10 national ranking at No. 7, captured the top match over Lucas Da Silveira and Justin To, 8-3. Winston Lin and Mike Vermeer brought the point home with an 8-4 victory in the No. 2 match against Greg Garcia and Daniel Hirschberg.

Singles action saw No. 12 Lin and Dragos Ignat earn solid wins in the No. 1 and 2 matches, respectively, in straight sets. Ivan Kravtchenko scored Brown’s lone point with a win in the No. 5 match, but Narayana clinched the victory for Columbia with a three-set defeat of Hirschberg in the No. 4 match.

Columbia is back in action Sunday, April 13, at 1 p.m. when it visits New Haven, Conn. to take on Yale.
