NEW YORK – The Columbia women’s golf team, winners each of its last two outings out, will host its 8th Annual Roar-EE Invitational this Friday, April 18 at the Knickerbocker Country Club in Tenafly, N.J.

Knickerbocker is the third course to host the Roar-EE Invitational after being played the past five years at Spook Rock Golf Course in Suffern, N.Y. and at Hampshire Country Club in Mamroneck, N.Y. in 2007 and 2008. For Friday’s competition, Knickerbocker will play as a par-72 at 6,115 yards.

Columbia will host Hartford, Penn and Quinnipiac on Friday, with the first group teeing off round one at 8:30 a.m. The second round will follow at 12: 30 p.m.

The Lions have won two of the three spring tournaments they have competed in this spring. After a ninth-place finish at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational in Hawai’i, Columbia returned to the mainland to earn victories at the Monterey Bay Invitational and the Seton Hall Pirate Invitational.

Sophomore Monique Ishikawa earned top medalist honors at Monterey Bay, leading four top-five finishes by Columbia golfers. Senior Michelle Piyapattra captured top honors at the Seton Hall Pirate Invitational after edging St. John’s Anna Kim in a playoff. Columbia bested Ivy League rival Yale by one stroke to take the team title.

Boston University won last year’s rain-shortened Roar-EE Invitational, while four individuals shared medalist honors. Ishikawa and Spenser Krut from Columbia matched Dartmouth’s Jane Lee and BU’s Kristyna Pavlickova with 79s to share the individual title at Spook Rock in 2013. Piyapattra has won the event in back-to-back years as a first-year and sophomore. Penn is the only team in this year’s field that has at least finished with a share of the team title, tying with Fairleigh Dickinson at the rain-shortened 2011 tournament.
