Women’s Golf Concludes First Round of Ivy League Championship in Fourth Place
SPRINGFIELD, N.J. – The 2014 Ivy League Women’s Golf Championships got underway with the opening round Friday at Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield, N.J., with the Columbia contingent ending the day in fourth place after shooting a team score of 316. Harvard is leading the tournament after carding a 297.
First-year Rachel Shi is in the top-10 individually to lead the Lions, posting a four-over 76 with 12 pars and one birdie. Classmate Camilla Vik concluded her first round of Ivy Championship action tied for 14th with a 79. Vik carded seven pars and three birdies on the day.
Senior Michelle Piyapattra shot an opening-round 80 with 11 pars and a birdie on the ninth hole. Sophomore Monique Ishikawa is one stroke back of Piyapattra tied for 20th. The Hawai’i native scored two birdies in the first round. First-year Jackie Chulya wraps up the Columbia lineup, shooting an 87 to tie for 30th.
