GREENWOOD, Ind. – Senior shortstop Aaron Silbar has been selected to the District 1 Capital One Academic All-District first team, as announced by CoSIDA Thursday afternoon. The Capital One Academic All-District teams recognizes student-athletes for their outstanding performances both on the field and in the classroom.

A financial economics major, Silbar posts a 3.37 cumulative GPA. On the diamond, Silbar has shown exceptional range on defense, making numerous plays this season to steal base hits from opposing batters. At the plate, Silbar is tied for second on the teams with nine doubles, while also driving in 18 runs. Silbar was a first team All-Ivy League selection as a junior, after batting .306 with 52 hits.

Silbar, the Lions’ starting shortstop each of the last three seasons, is a tri-captain this season, leading Columbia to a tie atop the Gehrig Division standings with a 15-5 record in the Ivy League.

All first team all-district selections qualify for nomination for Academic All-America.
