NEW YORK – Junior men’s tennis player Ashok Narayana has been selected to the Capital One All-District 1 first team, as announced by CoSIDA Thursday, May 15.

The 2014 Capital One All-District teams recognize standout performers both on the field of play and in the classroom. Already this season, Narayana was named to his third straight All-Ivy League doubles first team and was selected to the singles second team for the second consecutive season. In the fall, Narayana and doubles partner Max Schnur captured the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championship, the first major title in program history.

Since then, Narayana has helped the Lions to a 22-1 record, including their 11th Ivy League title and a pair of wins in the NCAA Tournament with a Round of 16 matchup against No. 1 USC awaiting Friday morning.

Narayana was one of 10 student-athletes selected to the District 1 first team, earning a 3.79 GPA as a history major at Columbia. All first team honorees advance to the Capital One All-America Team ballot where first, second and third team honorees will be selected later this month.
