Phoenetia Browne Leads St. Kitts & Nevins In CFU Caribbean Cup
Dating back to late May, Columbia women’s soccer rising senior Phoenetia Browne competed in the inaugural Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Women’s Caribbean Cup representing her native country of St. Kitts & Nevis. The Women’s Caribbean Cup serves as the Caribbean Zone’s qualifying tournament for the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup, with 17 counties represented.

From May 23-27, St. Kitts & Nevis competed against three teams in Group 3 looking to advance as one of the five bracket winners to earn a spot in the finals in August. In the opener on May 23, Browne netted a hat-trick to propel St. Kitts & Nevis past the Cayman Islands, 5-0.

The midfielder emerged as one of the team’s offensive leaders as she followed-up her three-goal performance with another two goals in the next match on May 25. Her two goals propelled a 4-0 victory over Turks & Caicos.

On May 27, St. Kitts & Nevis took on Bermuda for a chance to advance as the bracket winner. Bermuda jumped out to an early lead and never looked back to hand St. Kitts & Nevis a 4-1 defeat. Despite the loss, Browne netted the only goal for the team for her sixth-goal in three games. With the win, Bermuda tallied seven points in the bracket to edge St. Kitts & Nevis six points as the bracket winner.
