Lacrosse Announces Incoming Recruits For 2015 Season

NEW YORK - On Monday, July 14, the Columbia women's lacrosse team has announced the nine talented recruits that will join the Lions for the 2015 season.

Chandler Banks
GK | 5-7 | Fr. | CC | Centerport, N.Y. | Harborfields High School

At Harborfields: Banks was two-sport goalie in field hockey and lacrosse, earning a combined seven varsity letters on both fields. She is a two-time Suffolk County All-Division selection in goal for the Tornadoes in her junior and senior seasons. Banks also anchored the defense of the Long Island Yellow Jackets club team. In 2013, she led the team in saves with 138. Along with her excellent work in the classroom, Banks garnered 2014 Academic All-America honors, NFHCA/SGI Gladiator Academic All-America honors and is a NYS Scholar Athlete.

Kathryn Cavallo
D | 5-9 | Fr. | CC | Alexandria, Virginia | St. Stephen's & St. Agnes School

At St. Stephen's & St. Agnes: A two-sport athlete in both field hockey and lacrosee, Cavallo is a four-time letterwinner as a defender for the Saints lacrosse team. She helped the Saints capture three consecutive Virginia State Lacrosse Championships (2011, 2012, 2013) and four ISL Conference Championships (2011, 2012, 2013, 2014). To cap her senior campaign, Cavallo received ISL All-Conference honors, second team all-state honors and honorable mention All-Metropolitan honors. She also played for the Capital Lacrosse club team and graduated St. Stephen's & St. Agnes as the class of 2014 salutatorian.

Nell Crosby
M | 5-8 | Fr. | CC | Colorado Springs, Colorado | Cheyeene Mountain High School

At Cheyenne Mountain: Crosby was a four-time letterwinner for the Indians.  Her impact was felt right away, earning team Offensive MVP honors and second team All-Conference South Region honors in her freshman season. In her sophomore season, she added another second team all-conference honor and team Midfield MVP award. Crosby continued to grow, receiving the Outstanding Player of the Year award as a junior and grabbed her first of back-to-back first team all-conference honors. She capped her senior tied second for second most in the state in ground balls with 89 and fourth most in draw control percentage at 59.1 percent. She earned second team all-state honors and finished as the team MVP.

Sarah Goode
D | 5-2 | Fr. | CC | Alexandria, Virginia | St. Stephen's & St. Agnes School

At St. Stephen's & St. Agnes: The defender was a two-sport athlete for the Saints in lacrosse and field hockey. Goode joined the lacrosse team in her junior year to help the Saints capture a Virginia State Lacrosse Championship and an ISL Conference Championship in 2013. The St. Stephen's & St. Agnes followed with another ISL Championship in 2014. As a defender, Goode tallied a goal in her senior campaign.

Cassie Hertzig
M | 5-10 | Fr. | CC | Annapolis, Maryland | Broadneck High School

At Broadneck: A three-year letter winner at Broadneck, Hertzig was a contributing midfielder for the championship squad. The team captured the 2014 Anne Arundel County Championship and the 2014 Maryland State Championship. In her senior campaign, Hertzig tallied 47 assists and 12 goals to earn second team all-county honors.

Nicole Kalamaras
A/M | 5-5 | Fr. | CC | Mountain Lakes, N.J. | Mountain Lakes High School

At Mountain Lakes: As an attacker, Kalamaras was essential to the Lakers 2014 New Jersey Group I State Championship season. She tallied 42 points behind 32 goals and 10 assists to lead the squad to a state championship, back-to-back state section champions and Morris County Champions, and Stars and Stripes Conference Champions. The team was selected as the 2014 New Jersey Dailey Record Team of the Year and the Smugmug Team of the Year. Following a standout senior campaign, Kalamaras received All-Morris County honors, All-Daily Record honors, All-Stars and Stripes Conference honors and academic All-America honors.

Victoria Kalamaras
A/M | 5-5 | Fr. | CC | Mountain Lakes, N.J. | Mountain Lakes High School

At Mountain Lakes: Kalamaras will join Columbia this season as one of the most talented attackers in the state of New Jersey. Kalamaras put together a phenomenal senior campaign to lead the Lakers to a 2014 New Jersey Group I State Championship. She set a school single-season record with 143 points behind a school-record 83 goals and 60 assists. In her time at Mountain Lakes, the team won back-to-back State Section and Morris County Championships (2013, 2014), and 2014 Stars and Stripes Conference Champions. The team was selected as the 2014 New Jersey Dailey Record Team of the Year and the Smugmug Team of the Year. Kalamaras is a three-time All-Morris County honoree and All-Stars and Stripes Conference selection. She earned her second academic All-America honor in her senior season along with being named the Daily Record Girls Lacrosse 2014 Player of the Year, the Northwest Jersey Athletic Conference 2014 Player of the Year and first team All-State and All-America honors.

Claire Russell
M/D | 5-9 | Fr. | CC | Hingham, Mass. | Milton Academy

At Milton Academy: Russell was a versatile athlete for the Mustangs as a four-sport athlete in lacrosse, field hockey, cross-country/track & field, and basketball.  As a four-time lacrosse letterwinner, Russell was an accomplished midfielder. She was a three-time All-ISL selection, a four-time NEPSWLA All-Star, second team All-America honors (2013) and an academic All-America honor (2014). In her senior and junior seasons, Russell tallied a total of 101 goals and 84 draw controls to earn back-to-back team MVP honors.


Alex Silvera
A/M | 5-10 | Fr. | CC | Bryn Mawr, Pa. | Episcopal Academy


At Episcopal Academy: Silvera was a three-year letterwinner at Episcopal Academy and emerged as one of the team’s best leaders serving as captain in her senior season. She led the squad to back-to-back Interac Championships (2012, 2013) and three straight PAISSA Championships (2012, 2013, 2014). Silvera was an Under Armour All-America selection in 2013 and capped her high school career with a tally of 71 goals, 16 assists and 37 ground balls. The Philly native also competed for the Ultimate Lacrosse Club team who went unbeaten in 2013. Silvera will keep the family tradition going with her arrival to Morningside Heights following her father David Silvera ’86CC.
