Robert (Bob) Gilmartin started at Columbia as the Director of Sports Performance for Football in April 2014.
In his role, Gilmartin will serve as the head strength and conditioning coach of football, where he will design and implement a comprehensive sports performance program.
Gilmartin spent 11 years at Rutgers, working as the assistant strength and conditioning coach for the football team and head strength coach for other varsity programs including swimming and diving, men’s soccer, wrestling, field hockey and lacrosse.
Gilmartin joins Columbia after a two-year stint as assistant strength and conditioning coach with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with former Rutgers head coach Greg Schiano. While there, his main focus was designing and implementing rehab programs for injured players. Gilmartin specifically worked with Darrelle Revis, Da’quan Bowers and Davin Joseph. He was also responsible for helping prepare and update the Bucs’ in-season weight training program and worked with the team nutritionist.
Gilmartin, a NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, is a 1989 graduate of UMass and holds a bachelor’s degree in management.
