NEW YORK - Former Columbia standout Michelle Piyapattra is set to compete in the final stage of LPGA Q-School on Dec. 2-6 at LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Florida.

"It feels great to make it to the final stage of Q-School," said Piyapattra. "Last year I missed making it to Stage III by one stroke, so all of this year has been spent just gaining experience in preparation for Q-School."

A 2014 graduate of Columbia, Piyapattra is in her first year as a professional golfer and while the road to LPGA Q-School has not been easy, her hard work is beginning to pay off.

"Even though my goal was to get here, I still have five more days of tournament play to get through so I'm not finished yet," added Piyapattra. "I am just going to try and play my game and not get ahead of myself. Five days is a long time and a lot can happen, so I need to make sure I stay focused all the way up to Sunday."

Piyapattra's journey through Q-School started with an exemption of the first stage from both the Symetra Tour and Canadian Tour, where she finished in the top five after a in a season-opening win on Tour earlier this season. From there, Piyapattra was able to finish tied for 71st in Stage II after carding a 71-78-78-75--302 (+14) to earn a spot in the final Stage this week. It was a big step for Piyapattra after having missed last year's cut by only one stroke and this weekend will be one more step on an impressive journey.

"Some of the struggles I faced during Stage II was trying to stay in the present and not think about what happened the year before," said Piyapattra. "We are playing two different courses this week, each having its own difficulties. The greens are very difficult but I just have to play my game. The main thing I will be focusing on is my swing tempo and just playing smart while not getting angry or frustrated."

Stage III of LPGA Q-School will take place on Dec. 2-6 at the Hills and Jones Courses of LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Florida. For all information on Q-School, including results and pairings from each of the three stages, click here
