COLLEGE FENCING 360 RELEASE

NEW YORK - First-year standout Ilana Solomon was named the College Fencing 360 National Rookie of the Week following an impressive performance at the Penn State Invitational last weekend.

Solomon had a strong performance at the Penn State Invitational on Jan. 16, posting up a 17-1 record on the day with a +50 in touches to help lead the women's team to a 7-0 performance including wins over three top-10 teams.

The rookie picked up three 5-0 wins in the event and rounded out the day with a perfect sweep over a tough veteran Temple squad while only falling to Duke's Haley Fisher. 

With the strong performance at Penn State, Solomon improves to a 27-7 overall record on the season.

Solmon and the rest of the Lions will return to action on Sunday, Jan. 24, as they head to St. John's University for the 2016 NYU Invitational.
