CHANDLER, Ariz. - Columbia field hockey’s Katie Ruesterholz and Maeve Doherty each earned second team Longstreth/NFHCA All-Mideast Region honors. This marks the second selection for both student-athletes and the third straight year the Lions have posted multiple players on an all-region squad.
Ruesterholz, who earned a second team nod in 2014, tied for the Ivy League lead in points (37) and goals (15), which are both the second highest single-season totals for the Lions on her way to first team All-Ivy League honors. Ruesterholz broke Columbia’s all-time goal (44) and points (107) records in a season where she recorded two hat tricks and earned conference player of the week honors on Oct. 21.
Doherty made the second team for the second consecutive season after registering nine goals and five assists for 23 points, good for second on the squad. She notched five defensive saves, which put her second in the conference and was selected Ivy League Player of the Week on Oct. In just three seasons, Doherty is tied for ninth in career points (44) and is 10th all-time in goals (15).
