All Region Honorees

NEW YORK - The Columbia men's soccer team had juniors Arthur Bosua and Alex Bangerl named to the NSCAA All-East Region teams, announced today.

One of the top scorers in the Ivy League, Bosua picked up first team honors, while Bangerl, a feared defender, found himself on the third all-region team. Along with Andrew Tinari, both players made up were captains this season on the Ivy League Champion Lions.

Bosua led the team in scoring for the second straight season, netting eight goals and adding four assists in 2016. The Dix Hills, New York, native impressed in the Ivy League title clinching victory over Cornell, scoring his first career hat trick while assisting on the other goal in Columbia's 4-0 victory.

Bangerl started every game at center back for the second year in a row, making an impact on both sides of the ball. Aside from leading the defensive charge that led the league in shutouts with nine and posted a conference-low 0.68 goals against average, Bangerl tallied three goals on the year. The Pforzheim, Germany, native knocked in a game-winner in the 90th minute of a 1-0 victory over Sacred Heart.

The pair join recent teammates Kyle Jackson, a third team selection in 2014, Andrew Tinari, who picked up second team honors in 2015 and Antonio Matarazzo, who was a third team selection that same year.
