PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Columbia wrestling team picked up four wins during a 26-12 dual match loss at No. 24 Drexel on Saturday.

With the loss, the Lions fall to 0-3 in duals this season.

The Dragons got off to a fast start, taking an 11-0 lead after a forefit by the Lions in the opening bout, and a 18-3 tech fall for No. 11 Kevin Devoy Jr. over Alec Kelly, 18-3, at 133 pounds.

Columbia then got on the board, as Jacob Macalolooy picked up an 8-5 decision over David Pearce at 141, making the match score 11-3.

It would not take long for Drexel to again get bonus points, as their other ranked wrestler, No. 15 Matt Cimato, earned a major decision victory over Dan Reed, 14-3.

The following two bouts went two the Lions, as Tyler Ponte and Tyrel White got Columbia on the right track. In the 157-pound match, Ponte held on to get by Willie Davis, 2-1, before White came away with a similar victory, 2-0, against Austin Rose.

Drexel went on to post wins in the next three matches, including major decisions at 184 and 197, before Garrett Ryan closed out the match with a Columbia victory. Against Joey Goodhart, an at-large qualifier at the 2016 NCAA Championships, Ryan picked up a 7-4 victory, as the Dragons went on to take the dual, 26-12.

Columbia will be back in action Dec. 29-30, when the Lions head to the Ken Kraft Midlands Championships, hosted by Northwestern University.
