NEW YORK - Former Columbia men's soccer standout Charles Balsamo will be honored at the NYC Soccer Gala on Wednesday, March 1 at the New York Athletic Club.
Balsamo, an All-Ivy League selection in 1994, was a two-time team captin at Columbia, and was a vital part of the 1993 team that captured the Ivy League Championship and played in the NCAA Tournament.
In 1996, Balsamo earned his BA in Economics from Columbia, before adding an MBA in Finance from NYU's Stern School of Business in 2005.
Currently, Balsamo serves as the CEO of Unity Construction Group in Manhattan, a company in which he was a founding member of.
Other honorees include Emil Cohill from the Cosmopolitan Soccer League, Martin Jacobson from MLK High School, Kevin Daly from St. John's, Chris Donovan from Fordham, Mario Fava from St. Francis and Mickey Kydes from LIU Brooklyn.
