Action at the 2017 NCAAs will get under way Thursday morning from the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, with the two Lions representing the field of 330 wrestlers that have qualified for the tournament.
Ryan picked up the No. 16 seed in the heavyweight bracket. The junior, who is 26-7 on the season, will battle Central Michigan's Newton Smerchek in the first round, during a rematch from the Midlands Championships. Back on Dec. 29, Ryan handed Smerchek a 7-1 defeat on the consolation side of the bracket. The winner of the Ryan/Smerchek match will likely take on the No. 1 seed and defending NCAA Champion, Kyle Snyder from Ohio State.
White, who was unseeded, is slated to wrestle Luke Zilverberg from South Dakota State during the pigtail round of the 165-pound bracket. The junior enters the tournament at 22-13, and will see Zilverberg (24-8) for the first time this season. The winner of the White/Zilverberg pigtail is slated for a match with Missouri's Daniel Lewis, the No. 6 seed in the tournament.
