NEW YORK — Rising senior Charlotte Buck of the Columbia women's rowing team was named First Team All-Region by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA). Buck was one of 11 selected to the region's first team, which was announced on Monday.

The CRCA All-Region awards recognize the outstanding performances of rowers and coxswains from each of the five regions, organized into first and second-team selections. Nominated student-athletes are evaluated on the strength of their team's regional finish, coaches recommendations and 2,000-meter erg score. Nominees must be eligible student-athletes who have competed in their teams' varsity boat in 75 percent of races this season. These athletes will be eligible for All-America awards selection following the NCAA Rowing Championships.

Buck, who rowed from the stroke seat in Columbia's V8+ this past season, was also chosen for USRowing's Women's U23 National Selection Camp. She is one of only 34 women nationwide to earn an invitation to Sweep Camp, which began on Monday at the Caspersen Boathouse in Princeton Junction, N.J. Buck is the first Lion invited to National Team Camp since current assistant coach Samantha Warren in 2012.

"It is a great achievement for Charlotte to earn First Team All-Region and the opportunity to compete for a seat on the U23 National Team this summer,” Columbia head coach Scott Ramsey stated. “The increasingly competitive level of NCAA Rowing across the country has improved the quality, depth and speed of the talent pool so much that it's a nice honor to even get an invitation to camp. I'm really excited to see how much better Charlotte will become through her experiences in the coming weeks. She is a competitor who is hungry to succeed, but she's also humble and very coachable. I know she is going to learn everything she can from the great coaches and athletes at the camp and come back to Columbia even better as she enters her senior season."

The Women's U23 National Team Camp will select the Open Women's 8+, 4x and 4- to compete at the U23 World Championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, July 19-23.
