NEW YORK — Rising senior Charlotte Buck of the Columbia women's rowing team was named Second Team All-America by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA). The association announced its 2017 Division I Pocock All-America award winners on Tuesday.

Buck was a fixture in Columbia's varsity eight, rowing from the stroke seat in all eight spring regattas. She led her crew in head-to-head victories over Barry, Rutgers and Clemson, as well as finishes over Penn and Cornell at the Clemson Invitational. Buck also helped the Lions to bronze in the Grand Final at the Women's Eastern Sprints, edging out Dartmouth at the finish to make the podium. Columbia's varsity eight also qualified for the Grand Final at the Ivy League Championships in May.

"It's a real honor for Charlotte to be selected Second Team All-America," head coach Scott Ramsey said. "It has become harder and harder to get a nod with each passing year as the number of accomplished rowers in Division I increases across the country. I'm very happy she was recognized and continue to be humbled by how far she has come in less than three years involved with the sport."

Buck was one of 42 All-America selections. Earlier this month, she was one of 11 named to the CRCA All-Region First Team. The Nyack, New York, native was also one of 34 women nationwide to earn an invite to USRowing's Women's U23 National Selection Camp, which took place last week in Princeton Junction, New Jersey.

Nominated student-athletes are evaluated on the strength of the institution's varsity eight within the country, coaches' recommendations and 2,000-meter erg score. Nominees must be eligible student-athletes who have competed in their teams' varsity boat in 75 percent of races this season.
