LONDON - Playing alongside teammate Cheng-Peng Hsieh, former Columbia men's tennis standout Max Schnur '15CC came out of the qualifying doubles draw to advance to Wimbledon.

Schnur and Hsieh rallied after dropping the first set against Ariel Behar (Uruguay) and Alexander Bury (Belarus) to take the second and third sets, posting a 6-7 (6-8), 7-5, 6-3 victory in today's qualifier. The Richmond, Virginia, native and his doubles partner from Taiwan will play at Wimbledon as one of four pairs that advance from the qualifying draws.

The oldest and most prestigious tennis tournament in the world begins July 3 in London, and will be the first Grand Slam tournament that Schnur has been a part of.

The former Lion was a four-time first team All-Ivy League selection during his career, and became the champion at the 2013 NIIC Doubles Tournament with Ashok Narayaya '15CC. Schnur was one of the captains on the 2015 Ivy League Championship team that reached the Sweet 16 at the NCAA Championships.
