Kevin Callahan, Jr. enters his third season at Columbia University as its Offensive Quality Control Coach.
Callahan is responsible for all offensive film responsibilities, which includes breakdown of opposing defenses, creating the “self-scout” of Columbia’s offensive tendencies and daily data entry. He also assists with the weekly game plan.
Prior to arriving in Morningside Heights, Callahan was awarded the Edward Hitchcock Fellowship at his alma mater Amherst College, an honor given annually to a graduating senior who is interested in pursuing a coaching career. As part of the program, he spent the 2014-15 academic year as Amherst’s running backs coach, assisted with the women’s basketball program and served as the school’s director of intramurals.
Callahan also served an internship at the National Football League in New York City, where he worked as a player engagement intern.
A native of Spring Lake, N.J., Callahan graduated from Amherst College (Mass.) with a bachelor’s degree in English in 2014. He was a four-year letterwinner on Amherst football team.
