NEW YORK—The Columbia women’s golf team will compete in eight invitationals in eight different national locations as the program released its upcoming 2017-18 schedule, head coach Amy Weeks announced on Friday.

“We are very excited for the fall season to begin,” Weeks said. “Our players will have ample opportunities to play against the best golfers in the league and the country. We will have a young team but we are looking forward to increased depth on our roster.”

Columbia will open its 2017 fall season at the Penn State Nittany Lion Invitational for the second consecutive year. Held at the Penn State Golf Course, the Lions finished in second place last year out of nine competing teams.

Columbia will then travel to back-to-back tournaments hosted by Ivy League schools in the Princeton Invitational (Sept. 30-Oct. 1) and Yale Women’s Intercollegiate (Oct. 6-8). Last year, the Lions claimed team titles in both events. The Lions won last year’s Princeton Invitational by two strokes as its placed three golfers among the field’s top-10 individuals. Behind two top-10 performances, Columbia claimed the 2016 Yale Intercollegiate before competition was halted due to inclement weather.

The Lions will conclude fall competition with a third straight visit to Louisville, Ky. to compete in the Cardinal Cup.

Columbia’s 2018 spring season opens early at the Florida State Match Up in Tallahassee, Fla. from Feb. 9-11. A month later, the Lions will make their second consecutive visit to Augusta, Ga. to compete in the always-competitive 3M Augusta Invitational, March 16-18. The following month, the Lions travel to Sarasota, Fla. to compete in the Harvard Invitational, April 7-8.

Columbia concludes its spring season at the 21st annual Ivy League Championships from April 20-22. The location and golf course has yet to be determined. Fueled by two top-10 and All-Ivy League performances by Jackie Chulya (fifth place) and Ridhima Dilawari (ninth place), Columbia concluded the 2017 Ivy League Championships in third place overall.

Columbia is coming off a successful overall 2016-17 season which saw it earn its highest national ranking in school history, win two fall invitationals and finish in third place at the 2017 Ivy League Championship in April. Two golfers—graduating senior Jackie Chulya (5th place) and Dilawari (9th place) earned All-Ivy League honors, while Dilawari was named the program’s first-ever Ivy League Rookie of the Year.

Weeks welcomes a three-member incoming class to the squad including Kim Chiang (Dubai, United Arab Emirates), Katie Lee (Ringoes, N.J.) and Qingyi Symba Xu (San Diego, Calif.). The trio will join four returning letterwinners including rising senior Nancy Xu, junior Amy Ding and sophomores Emily Chu and Dilawari.
