NEW YORK— Columbia Cross Country will take the course at Van Cortlandt Park for the second consecutive Friday when the squads compete at the Iona Meet of Champions, beginning at 10 a.m.

Hosted by Iona College, Columbia will participate in the Iona Meet of Champions for the second consecutive season. Last year, the men finished fifth and the women finished seventh.

In this week's USTFCCA polls, the men's squad is ranked No. 30 in the country and remain as the only Ivy League school ranked in the top-30.  The group of ranked schools that the men will race on Friday includes No. 9 Iona and No. 5 ranked Arkansas.

To kickoff the 2017 campaign, the women’s cross country team put forth a first place effort at the Columbia XC invite last Friday, and the men’s team finished third.

Nell Crosby got off to a great start of her season, finishing first overall with a time of 21:45.9 in the 6k course. For the men, Dan Schumacher was the first Columbia finisher in fifth place at 26:55.6 in the 8k.

On Friday, Columbia will race an entirely different group of runners than last Friday, on both the men's and women's side.
