PRINCETON, N.J. – Senior Maeve Doherty of the Columbia field hockey team was named Ivy League Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday afternoon. Doherty led the Lions to a 2-0 week and posted two goals, three assists and a defensive save.
In a tightly contested game against Hofstra Friday, Doherty made a key defensive save in the first half and later assisted on Lauren Crane’s game-winner in the 43rd minute. The Millersville, Maryland, native followed up with a dominant two-goal, two-assist performance in a 6-1 victory over Bryant in Columbia’s home opener Sunday.
Doherty has four defensive saves on the season, which is tied for No. 2 in the NCAA and leads the Ivy League in points (12) and assists (6).
The Lions will begin their Ivy League slate, Saturday, September 23 against Brown at the Baker Athletics Complex. Game time is slated for 10 a.m. Admission is free to the contest.
