NEW YORK – A pair of events take stage this weekend for the Columbia men’s tennis team, as Victor Pham heads to Malibu, California for the Oracle ITA Masters, while the rest of the Lions plan on competing at the Princeton Ivy Plus Invitational.
Pham qualified for the tournament in his home state as the highest ranked player from the Ivy League. After ending the 2016-17 season at No. 57, Pham currently is the No. 38 player on the men’s singles side. Last year, it was senior Shawn Hadavi who impressed at this tournament, becoming the runner-up in the field of 32 players. The first round for Pham gets under way on Thursday.
Most of the Lions plan on playing at Princeton over the weekend, in a tournament that gets under way on Friday and concludes on Sunday. A total of 17 teams will make their way to the tournament in New Jersey, which features four singles draws of 16 players and four doubles draws of eight pairs.
