CENTREVILLE, Va.—With an 18th place performance, sophomore Cullen Chung led the Columbia men’s golf team to a 12th place finish at the Patriot Intercollegiate Tuesday at the Chantilly National Golf & Country Club. Columbia concluded the two-day, three-round event with a 51-over-par 307-300-308-915 score.

 

Chung led the Lions with a five-over-par 75-71-75-221. He finished in 18th place after totaling 10 birdies. His 10 birdies ranked tied for the fourth most in the field. It is Chung’s second career top-25 finish.

 

Senior Joshua Suh, competing as an individual, placed 47th after carding a 12-over-par 75-80-73-228. He finished the invite with eight birdies. Sophomore Nick Brisebois finished in 50th place at 13-over-par 78-74-77-229, first-year Dan Terrell tied for 57th place with a 15-over-par 77-77-77-231, first-year Arjun Puri placed in 66th with an 18-over-par 77-78-79-234 and Curtis Chan shot a 24-over par 81-79-80-240 for 79th place.

Appalachian State won the team competition by carding a nine-over-par 292-291-290-873, while ASU’s Tripp Summerlin won the individual title with a seven-under-par 67-70-72-209.

 

Eighteen teams competed in the event including Columbia, host George Mason, Appalachian State, Bethune Cookman, Delaware, Elon, Florida Gulf Coast, Georgetown, Lafayette, Longwood, McDaniel College, St. Bonaventure, St. John’s, Saint Joseph’s, Villanova, Wagner, Liberty (individuals) and George Washington (individuals).

 

The event is the second of four fall tournaments that the Lions will compete in. After the Patriot Intercollegiate, Columbia will travel to Skokie, Ill. to play in the Windon Memorial Classic (Oct. 8-9). The Lions conclude their fall season at the Camden Collegiate in Camden, S.C. Oct. 21-22.
