PRINCETON, N.J. — Columbia’s Riley Casey was named Ivy League women’s basketball Rookie of the Week on Monday. The selection is her first.

Casey, a first-year guard out of Brentwood, Tennessee, averaged 11.0 points and shot 57.1 percent from the field (8-14) to help the Lions to a 2-0 week. She hit double figures in both games, including a 12-point performance on 5 of 9 shooting in Wednesday’s 68-60 victory over Boston College. The win marked Columbia’s first in program history over an opponent from the Atlantic Coast Conference. Casey followed up with 10 points in a 60-44 victory on Sunday at UMBC, hitting 3 of 5 attempts from the field all three of her free throws. The 5-8 rookie scored seven points in the first quarter, including a 4-point play, to help Columbia jump ahead by double digits.
