PRINCETON, N.J. — Columbia guard Riley Casey earned her second consecutive Ivy League Rookie of the Week selection on Monday. Casey averaged 15.0 points, 4.5 assists and 1.5 rebounds to help Columbia to a 1-1 record through the week. The first-year guard shot an impressive 52.4 percent from the field (11-21) and connected on all five of her free throw attempts.

 

Casey began her week with 12 points and four assists as part of Columbia’s 94-81 victory over Saint Francis (PA). The product of Franklin Road Academy in Brentwood, Tennessee shot 5 of 9 from the field and hit 2 of 4 form long range as the Lions scored their most points against a Div. I opponent since 1990. She went on to post career-highs of 18 points and five assists on Saturday in a game that came down to the final buzzer against Buffalo. Casey connected on 6 of her 12 attempts from the field and all five of her free throws against a team that came into the game with a top-25 RPI and a top-50 scoring defense.

 

Additionally, senior Camille Zimmerman was named to the Ivy League Weekly Honor Roll. Zimmerman averaged 26.5 points, 10.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists while shooting 46 percent from the floor (17-37), 43 percent from 3-point range (3-7) and 89 percent from the free throw line (16-18). She led all players in points (25), rebounds (9) and assists (6) in Wednesday’s win over Saint Francis and put together a double-double on Saturday with a season-high 28 points and 12 rebounds.

 

The Ivy League named Princeton’s Bella Alarie its Player of the Week.

 

Columbia (5-6) plays home tonight against Hofstra at 7 p.m. The game will air on SportsNet NY (SNY).
