PRINCETON, N.J.—Dartmouth earned a 4-1 women’s tennis decision over Columbia Friday evening during ECAC Championship First Round play at Princeton.


With the loss, Columbia will matchup against Yale tomorrow in an ECAC consolation match beginning at 11 a.m. Yale dropped a 4-3 first round loss to Cornell earlier on Friday.


Dartmouth started the match by claiming the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 respectively. The Big Green went up 3-0 when Chuyang Guan defeated Columbia’s Renee Ren 6-1, 6-1 at No. 6 singles and Racquel Lyn registered a 6-2, 6-2 win over junior Andrea Kevakian. After Columbia first-year Christie Wan rallied for a 4-6, 6-0, 6-0 come-from-behind victory at No. 1 singles over Dartmouth’s Kristina Mathis, Dartmouth’s Abigail Chiu won a 6-4, 6-4 decision over junior Sarah Hu for the clinching victory.


Kevakian’s 11-match win streak came to an end. Wan evened her No. 1 singles record at 2-2 in dual match play. Milstein and Wan dropped to 15-4 overall in doubles play.


Columbia (3-2) entered the championship as the No. 7 seeded team.
