PRINCETON, N.J.—Columbia captured the doubles point and three consecutive singles matches in completing a 4-0 women’s tennis sweep of Yale Saturday morning at the ECAC Women’s Indoor Championship at Princeton.


With the win, Columbia (4-2) will play its final ECAC Championship match against the Penn on Sunday at 9 a.m. The match will be played at the Kraft Tennis Center in West Windsor, N.J. Penn (3-2) stormed back to defeat Harvard 4-3 in the first match Saturday morning.


“We came out inspired today after a tough battle that went late last night against Dartmouth,” Columbia Head Coach Ilene Weintraub said. “We took the momentum by getting the doubles point and five out of six first sets in singles.”


Senior Adi Milstein and first-year Christie Wan continued their winning ways with a 6-4 victory over Yale’s Valerie Shklover and Samantha Martinelli and sophomore Ali Pollack and junior Andrea Kevakian followed with a 6-2 win over Yale’s Mimi Levine and Caroline Amos to claim the doubles point.


The Lions carried the momentum into singles as junior Sarah Hu notched a convincing 6-0, 6-3 win over Yale’s Mimi Levine at No. 4 and first-year Jennifer Kerr won a 6-2, 6-4 decision over Yale’s Shklover at No. 2. Wan clinched the win with a convincing 6-2, 6-3 win over Yale’s Martinelli at No. 1 singles.


Columbia was leading at several of the other singles matches before Wan claimed her victory.


Yale drops to 3-2 overall in dual matches.
