New York, N.Y.  It's the most wonderful weekend of the year! No. 2 men's squash (14-1) is headed to Trinity College to meet up with the top-8 teams in the nation at the Potter Cup at CSA Team Nationals. This is the highest the Lions have ever been ranked heading into the tournament.

"We are looking forward to the men's nationals weekend," Kenneth W. Torrey Head Coach of Squash Jacques Swanepoel said. "Our players are motivated and we are planning on taking it one match at a time. We have a very tough weekend ahead of us but the team is playing well and have gained a ton of confidence from the regular season."

SCOUTING THE COMPETITION

The Ivy League Champion Lions got by Rochester fairly easily when they played the Yellowjackets in upstate New York in late January. The Lions enter this weekend when the same consistent lineup that they have been playing with since then. If they can get past Rochester, the Lions will face the winner of No. 3 Harvard and No. 6 Penn on Saturday afternoon.

ALL-IVY

The Lions were all over the list of Ivy awards that were announced this Tuesday. Coach Jacques Swanepoel was named Ivy League Coach of the Year, Osama Khalifa won his third straight Ivy League Player of the Year Award and first-year Velavan Senthilkumar was unanimously named to the All-Ivy first-team. Senthilkumar was the first rookie to earn a spot on the All-Ivy team since Khalifa was named Ivy Rookie of the Year in 2015.

LAST YEAR AT THE POTTER CUP

Last season, the Lions won their first round match in the Potter Cup before falling in the second round to Harvard and St. Lawrence to earn the highest finish in program history at No. 4 in the nation. The stakes are definitely high heading into this weekend.
