PHOENIX, Ariz.—The Columbia men’s golf team opens its spring 2018 season this weekend when it travels to Phoenix, Ariz. to compete in the Grand Canyon Invitational, March 16-17 at GCU Golf Course. The Lions will compete in the GCU Invitational for the second consecutive season.

 

Competition begins with two rounds and 36 holes on Friday with an 8 a.m. PT/11 a.m. ET shotgun start. Teams will compete on a par 71, 7,219 yard course. Saturday’s final 18 holes begin at 8 a.m./11 a.m. ET.  Day two’s course has a par of 71 and is 7,134 yards long.

 

Sixteen teams will compete in the event including Columbia, host Grand Canyon, Missouri, Long Beach State, Wichita State, Northern Illinois, UMKC, Western Carolina, Pacific, North Dakota State, Drake, Hawaii, Omaha, CSU-Northridge, UC Riverside and Colorado State (individuals only).

 

Senior Joshua Suh, sophomore Nick Brisebois, junior Sunny Yan, first-year Arjun Puri and sophomore Cullen Chung will represent the Lions this weekend. In addition, first-years Dan Terrell and John Robertson will also compete as individuals. Pairings and lineups will be announced on Thursday. Columbia fall statistics are posted at this link.

The event is the first of five spring tournaments that the Lions will compete in. After the Grand Canyon Invite, Columbia will travel to Wilmington, N.C. for the Seahawk Invitational (March 25-26), Princeton, N.J. for the Princeton Invitational (April 7-8) and State College, Pa. for the Penn State Invitational (April 14-15). The Ivy League Championship is slated for April 20-22 at Stonewell in Elverson, Pa.
