GoColumbiaLions.com recently caught up with lacrosse senior Nicole Kalamaras for a fun Q&A. The Lions are back in action on Saturday, April 14 at 12 p.m. on the road against #10 Penn. Check it out!
Why did you choose Columbia?
Columbia gave me the opportunity to play high level Division I lacrosse, while also receiving a top-tier college education.
What role has New York City played in your Columbia experience?
Going to school in New York City is awesome. Columbia is unique in that it offers students a college campus, but also the opportunity to experience the best city. New York has an endless number of restaurants, places to go, and no city has better pizza 24/7.
What is your favorite thing about lacrosse?
The speed of the game.
Who is your favorite athlete?
Do you have any pregame rituals?
I do my hair the same way for every game (high bun with braid underneath). My teammate Regan Steed always lines up behind me during warmup, and I always make sure that I do the same number of stretches on both sides of my body (if I start with my right hamstring I end stretching with my left).
If there was a movie made about your life, who would play you?
What is your favorite thing to do on your days off?
Sleep in without setting an alarm.
Why do you wear the number #1?
I started out as #2 my freshman year, but Charlotte Cipolletti passed down #1 to me when she graduated. Number one always gets passed down, and I was so honored and excited to wear it.
If you could meet anyone, dead or alive, who would it be?
What is your favorite inspirational quote?
Nothing worthwhile is ever easy.
What has been your favorite thing about competing for Columbia?
Working hard to reach a common goal with the greatest group of girls, who have become my best friends.
