NEW YORK—The Columbia football team will host a Be The Match Bone Marrow Registration Drive on Friday, April 20. The drive will take place outside Dodge Fitness Center from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
In addition to getting swabbed themselves, members of the team will encourage others in the Columbia University community to do the same by being added to the Be The Match bone marrow donor registry. Joining the registry is fast and painless; it only takes a few minutes to fill out a form and take swab from your cheek.
The goals of the drive are to create awareness about the need for stem cell and bone marrow donors and register new and potential donors. More information is available at: https://bethematch.org/. To register, please visit: https://join.bethematch.org/lions.
Be The Match manages the largest and most diverse bone marrow donor registry in the world, which includes nearly 13.5 million volunteers who stand ready to be a live-saving bone-marrow donor. Marrow transplants can provide a cure for more than 70 different diseases, including leukemia, lymphoma and sickle cell anemia.
