BOSTON – The No. 2 Columbia lightweight varsity eight added another trophy to its case, topping Cornell and MIT to reclaim the Geiger Cup Saturday morning. The Lions’ second varsity eight continued its unbeaten streak with a five-second win over Cornell.

Facing strong headwinds of 8-10 MPH turned in a time of 6:17.153, which was just over five seconds in front of the No. 4 Big Red. If Columbia can top Dartmouth tomorrow at the Subin Cup regatta, the Lions can earn all of their major cups in the same season for the first time since 2003.

The second varsity eight put in another strong outing, besting Cornell by 4.5 seconds. The Big Red came out on top in the third varsity eight in a two-boat race with Columbia.

The Lions and Big Green will meet up in Hanover tomorrow, April 22, beginning at 9 a.m.
